i had no idea what day it was today until i called clifton, who was already at work, and asked. i woke this morning feeling disoriented as to what i was supposed to do today. but then again every day these days seems that way...and i don't like it. completely unmotivated. I have 3 jobs, and yet i haven't worked in almost a month. How does that work you ask? its simple...summer break...and i don't like it. don't get me wrong, school being out is fantastic and i love having Clifton being out of school and working (it makes me feel loved when he works), but i miss working too. a month and a half from now you might hear me singing a different song.
LaLaLa...dobedobedooo. (that's me singing my song)
i guess the main reason i wish i was working is so i can take my mind off of our current situation. to make a long story short, i haven't had that many tragedies in my life, but when they happen, the best way i know how to deal with them, is to get to work. when my Grandma Udall passed away last July, i was lucky to be able to work volleyball camp the next day...keeping my mind off of my mind. then when Grandpa Udall passed, i was driving the womens basketball team on an overnight trip when i got the call saying he died. again, working...keeping my mind off of my mind. this time, it's summer vacation. and i'm not working.
no more beating around the bush...i lost the baby last week. it all happened so fast that there was almost no time to contemplate what was actually happening. i went to see the dr. the morning it happened and he did an internal ultrasound and found nothing. but he said he could tell that i was pretty far along because of the size of the cavity (i was almost 12 weeks). and it didn't hit me until that moment...even though i knew everything had passed through, hearing it from a medical professional broke my heart. this past week has been full of drugs (to contract my uterus), laying down watching t.v. (to keep my mind off of my mind), and not much sleep (because i can't). I am grateful for the fact that this happened now, instead of 20 weeks from now. I also take comfort in knowing i can get pregnant, and that there was nothing i could have done to make this happen or to prevent it from happening. I'm glad 'someone' has a plan.
i've never been one to ask for help or pity. so the point of this post is to inform, not a pity party. i guess i jumped the gun on telling everyone. it's only fair to let the readers know. it's better than running into me at the grocery store and asking me how the baby is. (i've done it before too ;) and since you are the informed crowd, i should let you know what conversations i hate and am not looking forward to;
Them: How old is your son?
Me: He's two. He will be 3 in September.
Them: Wow. Isn't it about time to have another?
I HATE THIS!!!
A word of advise to the clueless...There is nothing worse than going to church and having a woman, who knows little about me and my family, judge me because i haven't had another child yet. but with a straight face, i grit my teeth, trying to control my rage, and nod...as if i agree with them. i know this happens often and i'm not the only one. i also know it will happen again. i really should start keeping stats on this. But, what gives them the right to tell me it's okay, that they are so sorry, and try to give me advise?
SIGH! Breath...all better.
I will tell you what has kept me sane and happy.
this adorable face!
He's my best bud.
even though he steals my oreo's.
i'm grateful for him everyday!

You are such a trooper for putting your feelings out there. My sincere apologies. I hate that everyone puts a "time" elapsed thing on having babies. Mind your own business people! Hang in there, LOVE YOU!
I LOVE YOU, WOMAN!!!!
I'm quite tempted to just drive to Thatcher right now and steal you away into a girls night out to keep your mind off of your mind. I'm thinking a pedicure, a movie, and some seriously good laughs. If only...
You are seriously a champ. Give Curtis an extra squeeze for me - he is a stud. And Oreos? He's my kind of boy :)
Steals your oreos...Thats classic! I love you neilly! TOTALLY know the feeling of everyone telling you to have more kids. It's like the moment they start walking everyone expects you to pop out another one!!! I am waiting just to piss off my in laws! Thats what they get for butting in to my sex life. If you think about it people are perverted! They are basically asking you when you and your hubby are going to get down and get dirty. People these days! I love you...and you are the best. Levi just left town so if you want to go out and do something let me know. I am totally up for it!
g-know
You know I love you...your mr. curtis is so handsome...I can see why he is keeping you so happy these days. I have been praying for you....and I would totally tell someone off for asking about your sex life! Remember....what's in there? A burrito, soda....yada yada
I love you. Come over to Tucson if you get bored! Maya and Curtis can play and we can....I don't know. Make a barbie movie if we want....
Poop!!!
That's definitely what this news is.
I wish I had something comforting or profound or meaningful to say, but I don't. I know that I can't relate to what you're going through. I only hope that you will find peace, and feel the love of your family and your Father in Heaven.
Janiel, when I saw you had pulled the big brother picture from your blog just days after you had posted it, I knew. And I wished that we could have had a late night pow wow like when you came up for David's blessing. I wanted to be with you and cry with you and just say, this is crappy. Because even though we know the plan, it hurts. I love you so much. I love having my beautiful tall Janiel. (ya know I always secretly wanted to be tall!) I've been praying for you. I love your guts!
WHAT THE!!!! I didn't even know about any of this stuff. Why am I such a terrible friend?

oh Janiel. I'm SO sorry! I haven't been blog stalking in a while, I didn't even know! I'm so so so so sorry! I hate that this happened. :( If I didn't work ridiculous hours, I would come up there and hang out with you all day. I love you! Hang in there!

I love how you say "keeping my mind off of my mind"...it's so true..work is the best way. Try not to worry about what others think of you...just be you and love it. I know you didn't want advise, but just want you to know you're an awesome woman and Curis is super super cute!!
Hey Janiel, I'm blog hoping and read your post. I am sorry you had to go through that! The girls in my family have all had miscarriages and tubal pregnancies and I know it is hard. Don't you hate dumb comments people make. At least you have one kid already, I get "So when are you two gonna finally have kids?". Awesome. Anyway, I hope you are doing good, your little fam is so cute!
